Emily Clement has been in our WIW community for many years and it gives us great pleasure to introduce you to this remarkable woman. Recently we had a little girl talk with Emily and this is what she said?
What do you do for a living?
Jack of all trades at Emily Clement, Life Coach LLC.
Why were you drawn to WIW?
When I started my coaching business in 2014 I was hungry for a tribe of like-minded souls. Starting a business, working from home, and owning my time was so new – I was eager to find a community and events that supported this liberating and terrifying new lifestyle! Every event on the WIW website was a perfect fit, “I want to go to that!” I attended my first event and I was hooked!
What is your favorite quote?
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead.
What is a recent book you read?
The last book I referenced was Louise Hay’s You Can Heal Your Life. I use it all the time!
Who is your celebrity crush?
My celebrity crush is Tony Robbins. Someday, Tony, someday.
What is the best advice you ever received?
Years ago I was in a crummy relationship and called my dad for advice. The K.I.S.S. advice is universal! (Read it in a thick Boston accent) “If you can put up with it, put up with it. If you can’t put up with it, don’t put up with it.”
What is your best memory of WIW?
Leslie invited me to keynote at her WIW 10th anniversary celebration! It was a game changer for me – I got to share my core message with a room full of fabulous women enjoying a cash bar. The peanut gallery was engaging and I held my own!
What would we be surprised to know?
You may be surprised to know I gave up television as a New Year’s resolution in 1997. It’s been over 22 years since I watched the boob tube. And to answer your next questions, I don’t have Netflix, but I do have internet.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
My superpower would be to fly! How cool to get a weightless, above-ground perspective.
If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only have one item, what would it be?
If I were stranded on a TROPICAL deserted island I’d have a hammock for epic fresh air naps.
The biggest lesson I have learned is . . .
The biggest lesson I’ve learned (which I now teach!): there is no such thing as failure – it’s all feedback. I’ve got a black belt and gold medals in falling, heartbreak and disappointment and I continue to shift my approach and go back for more!
What is your guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure is Bike Week in the Lakes Region – people watching at its finest!
Can you see why Emily is so special to our WIW community? She gives tirelessly of her time to support our group in a multitude of ways, too. We love you, Em.
