Amy Cunningham has been in our WIW community for some time and it gives us great pleasure to introduce you to this remarkable woman. Recently we had a little girl talk with Amy and this is what she said!
What do you do for a living?
I am the founder and CEO of Self Reliance Hypnotherapy, LLC. I guide women to live unapologetically through transformation mindset coaching. By blending hypnosis, NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), and traditional coaching techniques, I empower individuals to unlock their full potential and embrace their true selves.
Why were you drawn to WIW?
Women Inspire Women resonates with my mission to uplift and empower women. The community’s dedication to fostering growth, confidence, and support among women aligns perfectly with my values and approach to coaching.
What is your favorite quote?
“If you’re not changing it, you’re choosing it.” This quote encapsulates the essence of personal responsibility and the power we have to shape our lives.
What is a recent book you read?
“A Simpler Life” by The School of Life. It’s a thought-provoking exploration of how to find depth, meaning, and contentment in our often chaotic world.
Who is your celebrity crush?
Keanu Reeves, for his humility, kindness, and the depth he brings to every role and interaction.
What is the best advice you ever received?
“Don’t speak negatively about yourself, even as a joke. Your body doesn’t know the difference. Words are energy, and they cast spells, that’s why it’s called spelling.” This wisdom taught me the profound impact of our words on our reality and self-perception. It’s a principle I passionately share with my clients, emphasizing the power of positive self-talk and the importance of nurturing a compassionate inner dialogue.
What would we be surprised to know?
One of my first jobs was repossessing cars. Yes, I essentially ‘stole’ them back on behalf of finance companies. It was an unusual and adrenaline-filled chapter of my life that taught me a lot about human behavior, negotiation, and the unexpected paths our careers can take. It’s a far cry from where I am today, but the resilience and adaptability I learned during that time have been invaluable in my coaching career
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
The ability to instill hope. In moments of doubt or despair, I’d love to be able to remind people of their strength and potential for change.
If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only have one item, what would it be?
A durable, multi-purpose knife. It’s practical for survival and symbolizes the ability to adapt and overcome challenges.
The biggest lesson I have learned is…
The critical importance of living authentically, embracing our true selves rather than conforming to societal expectations of codependency and people-pleasing. It’s about rejecting the notion that we must always be the ‘better person’ in favor of genuine self-expression and integrity. This understanding has profoundly influenced both my personal growth and my approach to coaching, guiding others towards embracing their authenticity and living in alignment with their true essence.
What is your morning ritual, and how does it set the tone for your day?
Every morning, when I take my dog out, I make it a point to say Good Morning to the fairies, Mother Nature, Grandmother Moon, and Grandfather Sun. This practice helps me connect with the world around me, grounding me and reminding me of the beauty and interconnectedness of all things. It sets a tone of gratitude and mindfulness for my day.
Can you see why Amy is so special to our WIW community? She gives tirelessly of her time to support our group in a multitude of ways, too. We love you, Amy.
